Viol Rentals

The VdGS/GNY has several instruments in its rental collection. Each is easy to play and sturdy and will be rented with a bow and case. Their current disposition is as follows:

1. Treble viol, Charlie Ogle, 1998: rented
2. Treble viol, Westover, 1976: available
3. Tenor viol, Westover, 1978: available
4. Tenor viol, Ceske, c1999: rented
5. Bass viol, Ceske, c1999: rented
6. Bass viol, Kelischek: available
7. Bass viol, Hopf, 1975: available
8. Bass viol, Kramer, 1985: rented

Rental fees are $35 for up to one month or $75 for a period of three months, for a maximum of a year. Renters must be paid-up members of the VdGS/GNY.

Responsibilities of the renter are stipulated in the contract that he or she must sign. To keep the instrument in good condition, we provide a manual (Viol Care: A short guide), access to a lutheir, and, of course, telephone support. Although regular upkeep and most damages will be covered by us or our insurance, the renter must pay for strings and other supplies.

Additionally, if the renter isn't studying with a teacher known to us, we ask to take a look at the instrument after 6 weeks--just to make sure that our viol and its player are doing well.
