A Miniworkshop in Tablature Music

Open to beginners who would like to get a taste of tablature, and to those with tablature experience. The session will include works by Hume and others, and will be led by Parthenia members Rosamund Morley and Lisa Terry.

Saturday, October 22, 2005, 1 pm to 3 p.m

Note: Pitch will be at A=440. As a follow-up to the tablature workshop (and to fill a gaping hole in the availability of modern entabulations of tablature music) you may download Captain Humes Musicall Humors, 1605, in its entirety -- all 115 pieces -- for free in a modern entabulation (NOT a facsimile and not handwritten), set by Anthony Chalkley. It even comes in 3 versions -- PDF (for those who just want to print it out or for Mac users) and StringWalker and Midi; the latter versions can even be edited if you have String Waker and Django programs on your computer.

To get it, go to: Tony's ViolPage

or google Anthony Chalkle

More lyra-viol music now available for free download: Manchester Lyra Viol Manuscript, 46 pieces in the first three tunings, in an elegant contemporary intabulation along with transcriptions into staff notation, are now posted on the VdGSA website, VdGSA.org. Click on the link on the home page.
